Philanthropy What? Learn basic definitions that establish the “common language” and concepts that help an educator talk to young people about behavior, respect, caring, community, and “doing the right thing.” Spend time reflecting on your own motivations for and experiences with philanthropy.

Duration: 30-45 minutes

The learner will:

  1. define philanthropy as the giving and/or sharing of time, talent and treasure and taking public citizen action for the common good.
  2. recognize the contributions and value of the nonprofit sector.
  3. link or list how philanthropy enhances the social contract and a civil society.
  4. reflect on personal motivations, experiences and benefits of philanthropy.

CEU Credit: Upon successful completion of each module, the learner may request a certificate, which is suitable for a professional development portfolio or as proof of educational clock hours that can be used toward continuing education credit in most states.
