Raising Philanthropic Children

Developmental theories describe the natural growth of altruistic behavior as people mature. Expectations of students' appropriate behavior in the classroom community are linked to their age, maturity, and how their psychological needs have been met.

Many theories exist regarding human development. A widely accepted model is Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Personal growth, Maslow's levels of need, and growth in philanthropic behavior can be identified using the pyramid model.
