Erikson’s Stages of Development
A second theory of development for humans is Erikson's Stages of Development. Erickson also relates to growth in philanthropic understanding.
In each developmental stage there is a crisis through with the individual must work in order to move on to the next stage. If the individual works through the crisis in a dysfunctional manner, he or she will likely struggle later with this issue. The positive outcomes describe the results of a resolved crisis, and the negative outcomes describe the affects of an unresolved crisis. Each stage provides the opportunity for growth in developing philanthropic behaviors as well.
