Service-Learning and the Quality Standards
Description
Service-learning connects the academic curriculum with the inherent caring and concern young people have for their world. This module identifies the K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice and links these to a class working together as a team for learning and doing.
Learning Objectives
The learner will:
- identify and describe the four stages of service learning.
- state the benefits of service learning for students, teachers and communities.
- define the K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice.
- Apply a classroom team model to the Standards for Quality Practice.
CEU Credit
Upon successful completion of each module, the learner may request a certificate suitable for a professional development portfolio or as proof of educational clock hours that can be used towards continuing education credit in most states.
