  1. Anticipatory Set:

Before a visitor (in person or virtual) visits the group to talk about the work of a Youth Advisory Committee, discuss the final project ideas determined in the previous session.

Ask them to listen to the presenter for the duties of a Youth Advisory Committee and how the committee can help with the projects they have in mind.

  2. Introduce the YAC representative to the group to speak on the work of a YAC, their personal journey of learning about it and joining the YAC, and how the YAC can support youth projects in the community.

  3. After the YAC presentation, discuss and reflect in groups of four:

    • List the duties of a Youth Advisory Committee
    • List ways the YAC can support one of the brainstormed project ideas.
    • Come to an agreement on a recommendation to the whole group and who will present.
  4. The group reconvenes and each of the four groups shares what they discussed.

After all groups share, come to consensus as to how a Youth Advisory Committee might best help with the project. (For example, they may write a grant requesting funds for their project.)

Before the next session, they gather information to contact the YAC or write the grant proposal.
