    Since we've been talking about responsibility, today we are going to read about a man whose life was guided by a strong sense of responsibility for his community, state, and country. Manuel Lorenzo Justiniano de Zavala y Saenz was instrumental in shaping the Republic of Texas, and he signed the Declaration of Independence.

  2. As the learners read the biography handout Manuel Lorenzo Justiniano de Zavala y Saenz they underline in the text the responsibilities he took on throughout his life.

  3. After completing the reading, the learners answer the questions either through discussion or in writing.
