Focus question: What is a citizen's responsibility to advocate for health and safety?
Students learn about the need and rules for bicycle safety and teach them to others in the community. Learners become aware of the basic vocabulary associated with philanthropy as they prepare for their service activity, such as fundraising activities and construction of a bicycle safety course.
Learners will learn about the need for bicycle safety through understanding and relating the five basic rules of bicycle safety to others in the community. Learners will become aware of the basic vocabulary associated with philanthropy as they prepare for their service activity.
The purpose of this lesson is to promote helmet safety through a fundraising activity, culminating in providing helmets to children. Learners will demonstrate using their time, talent and treasure to provide for the common good.

In this lesson learners will review and utilize the knowledge of bicycle safety procedures through their service-learning activity of informing students and community about bicycle safety and constructing a bicycle safety course.
