To introduce students to the procedures of interviewing others and creating their own newspaper.

Objectives: 

The learner will:

  • develop 10 open-ended questions for a simulated agency director interview
  • role play an agency director and interviewer.
  • write an article based on the simulated interview.

Instructions: 
Print
  1. Anticipatory Set:Ask students to complete the statement, "I want this job because..."

     

  2. Direct students to write ten open-ended interview questions.

  3. Have the class form pairs, interview each other as "reporter" and "Agency Director" and reverse roles.

  4. Select two pairs to conduct their interviews as an example for the whole class.

  5. Students will write an article based on their role-playing exercise. The interview will be added to previous United Way articles.

  6. Each group should include at least one article from each member for the poster-board display. Remind students to outline the paper first before putting it on poster-board.
