Students will learn the fundamental principles of parliamentary procedure and use the procedure to create a plan for a service project in the community.

Unit: Creating Student-Generated Classroom Rules
By reviewing, debating, and voting on a final set of classroom rules that will govern classroom behavior, students will learn and participate in a democratic process related to the rule of law.
Students will identify problems related to class rules, develop proposed solutions, debate the proposals and vote on changes as needed.

Learners will demonstrate knowledge of the elements of community building, individual and civic responsibility. They will participate in the decision making process of rule, law and procedure making.
Unit: What Respect Means to Me
Learners define respect first without any input from the teacher or class discussion. Then as a group, they discuss the meaning of respect and differentiate it and contrast it with disrespectful behavior to self and others.
Unit: Character Education: Fairness (Grade 7)
Students play a simulation game that illustrates their power to take action for the good of others.
In the final reflection, students connect the concepts of fairness and philanthropy through written response to a quote or personal experience.
