Our risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus goes down when we all wear cloth masks in crowded places outside our homes. Cloth masks can be worn and washed several times. With the need for masks still present, some people continue to wear masks to stay safe. You can help keep your community safer by making and donating masks!

  1. Why wear a mask? Research the latest information. The CDC is the most reliable place for up-to-date information. Here is one guide.
  2. Here is a mask-making tutorial if you have sewing skills and a sewing machine.
  3. Here is a mask-making tutorial to convert an old T-shirt into a mask with no sewing skills needed.
  4. When you have masks ready, contact a local volunteer agency or use social media to let people know you can donate them.
  5. Learn more with a Learning to Give lesson Introduction to a Road Less Traveled
  6. BONUS: Masks may be customized by getting to know the people you give them to. Combine this with the Conversations with Grandparents project and make "memory masks." Use verbal or writing skills when you share the final product.

Reflection: As you make more masks, do you think your technique improved? Talk about the things you learned as you worked.
