Students will become familiar with African American humanitarian efforts that promoted philanthropy and had a significant effect on the African American community.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of philanthropy and interview family members concerning individual and community action which changes lives for the better.
Students will recognize that philanthropy is a vital part of the African American community.
Students will recognize that historically, even in war, philanthropy was a vital part of the African American community.
Students will recognize that philanthropy is a vital part of the African American History through the roles individuals played in the Underground Railroad.
Students will understand the roles played by local African American nonprofit organizations in their community.
