Unit Overview

Students learn about tools to help them understand the types of foods they should be eating on a daily basis to be healthy and ready to learn. Students learn about childhood hunger in their region. They learn the difference between companies that are for profit and nonprofit and the types of work they do. Students volunteer their time to prepare or pack meals for a local food distribution charity.

Service Experience
Students help assemble and pack Sack Suppers for Kids' Food Basket (or a local food pantry if they are not in the West Michigan area). They may raise the money or have a food drive to obtain the materials.
