Philanthropy Is Everywhere
Students learn about various kinds of philanthropy, from individuals doing "random acts of kindness" to corporate philanthropy and careers in the nonprofit sector. They have the opportunity to practice philanthropy and learn the characteristics of a volunteer. They identify organizations in their own community as "for profit" or "nonprofit" and explore job opportunities in the nonprofit sector by listening to speakers from various organizations.
Students will see their classroom as a community and identify ways each individual can support it by doing philanthropic deeds.
Students will see themselves as volunteers.
Students will discover that philanthropy is often a corporate act.
