Philanthropy, You, and Your World
What can we learn from diverse people today and in history about private action for the common good?

Students become familiar with the characteristics of philanthropic people and organizations. Students work collaboratively to develop questions to interview a philanthropic organization and report the information gathered at the interview back to their classmates. They learn to write a business letter and a follow-up thank-you letter.
Students will gain a basic understanding of philanthropic characteristics and how they pertain to their own lives.
Students will learn about the work of a local nonprofit organization.
The purpose of this lesson is to have students develop appropriate interview questions, interview a philanthropic organization, and present information to the class. This lesson is a continuation from Lesson One: Characterizing Philanthropic People.
The purpose of this lesson is to develop an appreciation for the importance of follow-up letters.
