Unit Overview 

 

 Learners learn vocabulary associated with philanthropy and gain awareness of the rich history of philanthropy in the United States. They investigate a nonprofit organization and write persuasively about its mission. 

Service Experience 
 Students write a persuasive support for a nonprofit and make a commitment to volunteer their time or talent for the group.

Students will understand the importance of working together for the common good. They will create persuasive radio public service announcements about a philanthropic organization and its mission, and justify a personal choice about an organization they would like to support with time (volunteerism) or treasure.
