Service Learning for a One-Semester Course
Students will identify the value of philanthropy in society and, working as a group, will plan, carry out and evaluate the success of a one-semester Academic Service-Learning project.
Students define philanthropy, identify individuals who have made a difference and make a brief oral presentation summarizing the actions of a person whose actions made a difference.
Students will focus on specific issues of concern to class members so they can decide on a particular problem they will address.
Students will select the Academic Service-Learning project.
Students will finalize the project and its scope.
Students will continue to plan, carry out and reflect on the success of the service project.
Students will share the results of the Service-Learning project and reflect on successes and failures.
