Through the Eyes of a Child
Students study stages of story development through fables and children’s literature. They use this knowledge to write a story with a moral, and share their appreciation of good literature with younger children.
Students will be exposed to positive children's literature to be able to recognize and critique appropriate picture books.
To introduce students to the stages of story development as well as have students understand the components of good quality children's literature, including storyline, layout, and illustrations.
The learners will create a children's story containing a positive moral.
Students will demonstrate effective storytelling technique, working with younger students. Students will design a Web page about their story writing experience. Teacher Note: The Web page is an optional activity.
