Although water is essential to all life, it is not abundant in many areas of the world. In order to preserve our usable water resources, learners develop an understanding of the water cycle, how to measure rainfall, and why it is essential to conserve this precious resource. Learners display their ability to be a good citizen and stewards of the Earth by educating others about caring for water resources.
Learners will identify the uses of water and understand its importance to our world.
Learners develop an understanding of the water cycle. They will then use this knowledge to create a tactile model of the water cycle and then relate these ideas to the importance of water conservation.
Learners will explore the various states that water may take. Activities will help them learn the importance of accurate water measurement and how that may be used in conjunction with water conservation.
Learners will use what they have learned in previous lessons to summarize why water conservation is essential, how it is an example of Environmental Stewardship and what they can do to make others more aware.
