Through discussion of the book The Seven Chinese Brothers, learners recognize that using our talents and working together to help others has benefits greater than the opportunity cost (what we gave up to take generous action). 

In this lesson, we explore where vegetables come from and how they are preserved for healthy eating. 

Students define and give examples of government philanthropy. They compare and contrast the four economic sectors. Small groups research a historical example of government philanthropy or civic action and write a persuasive piece to advocate for an issue related to government philanthropy.

Learners reflect in writing about how they can use their personal resources and interests to make a difference in someone's life.

Sometimes it is wise to follow the advice of others and at other times it will only bring disaster. This lesson examines stories from South Africa, Morocco, and Nigeria and character traits valued in those cultures.

This lesson will familiarize students with the Biblical passages that describe Adam’s responsibility to care for the Garden of Eden. Learners will develop an understanding of what this responsibility required of Adam and model this responsibility to nature by taking care of a garden of their own...

Participants explore Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s thoughts about serving and taking action. They give examples of service and social action by one person that can change the world.

Introduce the concept of philanthropy and guide the learners to be philanthropists who take volunteer action for the common good.

Small personal actions can be first steps in a life of service and civic engagement. Voting and civic action are small examples of responsible citizenship. Advocating for what we value is a demonstration of a citizen's rights.
