Unit: Around the World
This lesson will develop understanding of philanthropy through definition and actions. Activities for students to get to know themselves and their classmates, utilizing concepts of philanthropy, will provide learners with meaningful opportunities for later service learning projects.
In this lesson, students analyze and define the concept of community. The students identify benefits and sacrifices involved in actions for the common good in their role as citizens.
Unit: All for One
Learners identify stereotypical and discriminatory behaviors and practices. They define and give examples of positive actions and concepts related to addressing issues of intolerance.
Learners will examine the lives of individuals in the play, "The Diary of Anne Frank," in relation to community and philanthropy. They will compare the content of the play as a secondary source to the primary source, Diary of Anne Frank.
