To define profit and nonprofit organizations and explore the variety of careers available within those sectors. Students will prepare questions and then interview individuals involved with those careers.

Learners will understand that for profit and non-profit organizations help bring about breakthroughs in modern science/medicine. These contributions to the common good require the support of philanthropists, large and small.
Students will understand the organization of a non-profit agency, including how it is funded and how the resources are allocated. They will also volunteer for a minimum of four hours at the agency. (This lesson continues the learning from Lesson Four.)
Students research what nonprofit organizations are in their regional community and study their purpose and what is in their annual reports. They clarify the differences between a nonprofit and for-profit organization.
