Students learn the meaning of the word philanthropy and identify examples of philanthropy in their home, school and community.
This lesson introduces the concepts of supporting the arts and artists “giving back.” This lesson also introduces the concept of serial reciprocity—when someone does something kind for you, you pass on an act of kindness to someone else.
Inspired by stories of service, students gain understanding of philanthropy concepts and actions. They brainstorm acts of kindness and determine how they will contribute to the common good.
