In this lesson, we explore the role of youth in the advancement of human and civil rights. Young people share ideas about how they can promote the common good and lead positive social changes.

The learners analyze many variations of the Golden Rule and relate it to the concept of serial reciprocity. They rewrite the golden rule to reflect respect for cultural differences. 

In this lesson, learners brainstorm honesty and its value and benefits to the community, family, friends, and self.

Learners will reflect in writing on the role of the common good and honesty when rules are not clearly stated and people have different amounts of power.

Learners listen to different statements of "the right thing to do" and determine the source of the value or judgment. 

In this lesson, learners recognize that courage is something we need when making a difficult choice about something important. A hero makes courageous choices for the good of all, sometimes risking personal safety and comfort.

Conflict happens in many situations and knowing the proper means to communicate and resolve issues can mitigate many problems. This lesson helps youth evaluate the roots of conflicts and methods on how to resolve conflict with respect.  

This activity explores the difference between anti-racism, which includes active steps away from injustice, and non-racism, which is a passive description.

Students read about the Orphan Train and compare and contrast how that philanthropic effort has evolved today.
