The group collaborates to plan, carry out, and reflect on an authentic service project that meets the health and safety needs of the community. This is based on the needs assessment conducted through surveying community members in previous lessons.

From stories and examples, participants identify attributes, motivation, and impact of philanthropists.

Conflict happens in many situations and knowing the proper means to communicate and resolve issues can mitigate many problems. This lesson helps youth evaluate the roots of conflicts and methods on how to resolve conflict with respect.  

Children gain a feeling of ownership and responsibility for the care of the environment in their school and community.

The learner develops an awareness of alternative, earth-friendly ways to eat. This lesson encourages the learners to evaluate how their food choices affect the environment. Youth identify ways organic and processed foods contribute to their health as well as the health of our world.

Expanding on the lesson about critical conversations, participants explore ways to use their voices for good. The book Say Something by Peter Reynolds encourages readers to find their own way to express their voice - through speaking, poetry, song, and other ways.

Students learn how the Constitution relates to rules and community roles. This lesson is designed for Citizenship/Constitution Day (September 17) and connects students to improving their community for the good of all.
