Unit: Closer to the Ground
This lesson will develop understanding of philanthropy through definition and actions. Activities for students to get to know themselves and their classmates, utilizing concepts of philanthropy, will provide learners with meaningful opportunities for later service learning projects.
Learners will understand the meaning of “philanthropy,” associated concepts, and the qualities that philanthropists share, especially those qualities of character and personal virtue.
Students will gain a basic understanding of philanthropic characteristics and apply them to their lives.
To continue the study of philanthropist John D. Rockefeller’s influence on American culture.
Unit: Philanthropic Literature
To expose students to literature that reinforces the concept of unconditional kindness and demonstrates the idea that a good deed done for others will come back to you. The story also reinforces the days of the week.
