The "Current Event Check-In" is an Everyday SEL practice. It is a culturally responsive version of the daily emotion check-in; it offers youth the opportunity to check-in regarding the current events in their communities. In order to have a social awareness of one’s community, youth must be able to inquire, discuss, and share their thoughts and opinions about the events in their community on a regular basis.
This is a story that takes place in one day from ten different perspectives. In the ten blocks around the school as it lets out one day, we meet kids and learn who are they when there are no adults listening in.

Philanthropy is often equated with giving money, but every culture has its own rich tradition of giving, which may look like sacrificial generosity, community support, networking, or speaking up for necessary changes.
