This resource guide was designed by a Detroit-area educator with the goal of guiding educators with two citizenship themes: building a caring community and social justice in a diverse country. The resource includes video, literature guides, discussion starters, activities, and lessons intended to empower youth voice and guide them to a service project of interviewing someone and sharing their story of generosity.

Video Clip and Discussion Guide: There are some needs that businesses can't address because they can't make a profit. There are some needs that government can't address because government speaks for the majority. The philanthropy (or nonprofit) sector addresses needs and opportunities that fall through the cracks.
The handouts below are evaluations that may be completed by parents and families, community partners, students, and teachers. These evaluations may be used in conjunction with any Learning to Give lesson, toolkit, or resource.
