He established the model of "public-private partnerships" in which he leveraged private dollars to get the government to contribute to libraries, hospitals, universities, and other needed resources for the common good. We still use this "mixed economy" model.

They may be veterans who chose to serve in the military or elderly friends who have served as activists or volunteers for different issues. Communities are stronger when people take action and work together for a common purpose. These activities, project ideas, and community resources prompt discussions and service that build respect for people of different roles, types of service, and generations.
Youth raise awareness of ways to advocate for justice and kindness and bring positive change in their school, community, and world.
We build empathy and respect for people and giving traditions by listening to stories and traditions of present-day Native Americans. Participants practice listening and taking notes to capture key ideas.
By identifying examples of courage from the actions of Jackie Robinson, learners discover that it takes courage to do the right thing in the face of peer pressure.
Students explore the importance of limited government and citizen participation in their communities for the common good. Students research the local community foundation, raise funds, and learn parliamentary procedure.
