Unit: Nature and You (Stewardship) (Private-Religious)
This lesson will familiarize students with the Biblical passages that describe the creation of the world. Learners will develop an appreciation for the uniqueness of each species and will inform their school community about the importance of protecting endangered species.
Unit: Hurricane Katrina / Great Hanshin-Awaji Disaster Collaboration
The learners will become aware of human need brought about by natural disasters and will compare domestic experiences with parallel events on the other side of the world.

The learners read the metaphor drawings of the other groups and copy strong words and phrases that help define trustworthiness. They identify traits of people they know (including themselves) and write a definition of trustworthy.

Learners reflect on their experience with performing an act of kindness from the previous lesson. They compare their experience to the message in a folktale, and write about the impact of a single small act of caring.

Learners determine different ways that they show caring. They write the things they care about in word webs related to "how" they care about each thing.
Unit: Living History-An Intergenerational Philanthropy Project
Young people prepare for their visit to the retirement home by writing an autobiography. They work together to come up with questions to ask their senior friends.
Unit: Character Education: Fairness (Grade 8)
Learners discuss the fair use of copyrighted music. They explore how downloading music and movies affects the artists and producers who created the pieces. Learners write a statement of fair use.
