Focus Question

What is the potential impact on the community when individuals focus on being their best selves?

Unit Overview

This set of activities guides young people to recognize the value they have and add to the community. Each person matters, and the universe needs the varied gifts and perspectives of all to survive.

Self-care and social-emotional well-being are foundational aspects of effective philanthropy. By exploring their own needs and practicing empathy, people can help others from a place of strength and balance.

Service Experience
Leaning on the strengths and interests of young people who are affected by a need, the group uses empathy and emotional intelligence to propose solutions through service to make the shared community a better place. Rather than "helping," they collaborate to serve the community. "If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time. If you have come to because your liberation is bound up in mine, we can work together." Lilla Watson
