To give students time to reflect on the course of study each week and to encourage them to begin thinking of how to best make a monetary donation to an effective organization.

Now familiar with how a community foundation serves the community, the learners form a Youth Advisory Committee and use parliamentary procedure to conduct business.

Learners identify ways for individuals, nonprofits, and governments to take action against excessive destruction of the rainforests of the world. 

Rosa Parks’s acts of philanthropy brought a community of people together for the common good and resulted in major social change in her community and in the nation. Young people identify the relationship between individual rights, justice, equality, and community responsibility.

The learners define environmental stewardship and determine what they care about related to the environment.

Explore how electricity is used and measured. Through data collection tables, young people analyze how much energy their families consume and reflect on ways to conserve energy.
