In this lesson students will research the stories of individuals (motivations, background, values) who have received the Nobel Peace Prize and explain why they received it. They will analyze the importance of their actions for the common good.
Students define philanthropy, identify individuals who have made a difference and make a brief oral presentation summarizing the actions of a person whose actions made a difference.
The learners will identify and describe many different characteristics of civic virtue using material from a variety of sources and then select the characteristics they believe are most important.
