student copies of handout below "Written Reflection"

  • reflection: (n) careful consideration
  • evaluate: (v) to determine significance, worth, or condition by careful appraisal and study

  1. Anticipatory Set:

In small groups (not the project groups), students discuss the process of planning and presenting a service-learning project idea. They each have two minutes to discuss their process with the group. They may also discuss the roles they would like to take on in the chosen classroom project(s).

  2. Reflection is an important step for students to process what they have learned and accomplished over the process of creating a service-learning project and presenting their idea to others. The time spent in reflection is valuable time.

  3. A written reflection activity is included as a handout below. Uses one of these PBL-specific reflection activities. These Learning to Give activities involve reflection. These SEL-specific questions encourage thoughtful reflection.
