This is a continuation of the previous lesson. Students role-play familiar scenarios in ways that follow the rules and support straightforward communication and also ways that do not support the rules. They discuss the value of rules for promoting the common good.

Students work as a group to create a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) of the viability of taking courageous action in a specific difficult situation.

In this lesson, students choose two causes or issues from a list of twelve causes or issues that they feel most concerned about. With those in mind, they explore how perseverance and doing their personal best are the most effective ways to address needs rather than looking at the short term or doing nothing.

Students brainstorm a variety of short-term and long-term goals and then they discuss the logistics of carrying out some of the goals. They brainstorm about what resources are needed, what needs would be met, and how they can ensure perseverance in reaching one or more of the goals.
