Through the voices of an immigrant and refugee, youth gain empathy and understanding of the experience of leaving your home for a new place. 

To introduce students to Andrew Carnegie as one of the outstanding early philanthropists of the United States.    

Children reflect on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream and how he used his words. They reflect on their own dreams for a better community.

The learners organize a clean-up event in a defined area that needs work. They may use garden tools, collect garbage, or clean up dirty or graffiti areas. 

Learners increase their reading fluency and awareness of philanthropy by reading to younger children.

This lesson will help students learn the importance of helping people in need, and teach them to take an active role in helping others.  It will allow the students to be aware of what kind of items and quality of items should be donated, how to communicate an idea to others by visual means...

Young people learn about people and children who are homeless and make bedtime bags for children in shelters as their service project.
