Students define philanthropy and identify examples in history. They reflect on their own acts of philanthropy in their day to day life.
Students will understand the term philanthropy and recognize it in everyday situations.
The purpose of this lesson is to examine the tradition of giving and sharing in early Native American communities and to help children understand and recognize philanthropy in other cultures.
To review the idea of philanthropy through a Native American legend as people take action when a problem arises in their community.
To recognize Human Rights and philanthropic values of historical figures fighting for Human Rights.
Students will explore Native American philanthropy and the Pilgrim community.
To show how active citizens can make a difference in a community.
